Traditional Onion Remedy for Menstrual Health

Traditional Onion Remedy (Supportive Use)

In some traditional practices, brown cooking onions are used as part of a short-term herbal support routine. Onion juice is commonly known in folk practices as a traditional method used to help regulate or stimulate menstruation.

Preparation:

  1. Bring approximately 1.5 cups of chlorine-free water to a boil.
  2. Add one medium-sized brown onion, peeled and cut into four pieces.
  3. Simmer on low heat with the lid closed for about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, allow it to cool slightly, strain, and consume.

Traditionally, it is recommended to drink it twice daily (morning and evening) on an empty stomach for 15 days. It is generally advised to begin three days after menstruation ends.

Preparation and Usage Notes:

  • Brown (yellow) cooking onions should be used.
  • Red, white, or purple onion varieties are not recommended for this method.
  • Proper preparation and consistent use are considered important in herbal practices.
